MAURITIUS – THE BEST BEACHES!
Warm Indian Ocean waters lapping empty white sand beaches are almost guaranteed in Mauritius:
The combination of sun, sea and sand is without doubt the overriding reason for any holidaymaker jumping on a plane and heading off to Mauritius. Whatever lies on the seaward side of the resort’s garden is going to be fabulous – palm-fringed white sand and warm, clear Indian Ocean waters.

Les Pavillons Mauritius Beach
The northwest town of Grand Baie is a lively centre for bars, restaurants, clubs and shops and the bay itself is busy with windsurfing, water-skiing, parasailing and sailing. Resorts in and around the bay include Le Canonnier, Le Mauricia, Royal Palm and Merville Beach.
Further north are the beaches of Pereybére, a blue lagoon with deep clear water, and at the northern tip, Cap Malheureux, with a picturesque chapel on the beach. Coming down the east coast, Poste Lafayette and Roches Noires are undeveloped stretches with white sand coves tailor-made for picnics, while further south are the long white expanses of Palmar and Belle Mare. This stretch is sprinkled with resorts including Le Prince Maurice, One&Only Le Saint Géran, Belle Mare Plage, Le Coco Beach, The Residence, Beau Rivage and Palmar Beach Resort.

The Oberoi Mauritius Beach
A little further south is the fishing village of Trou d’Eau Douce with a fine sandy beach close to Le Tousserok. In the southeast, Blue Bay boasts a stunning white beach which is popular with the locals, and a Marine National Park with ancient coral reefs that attract snorkellers. Excursions are available from nearby Shandrani.
A break in the reef on the south coast gives Gris Gris and Souillac a wild reputation which is great for walks. Still on the south coast, the beaches of Bel Ombre are bordered by forests and plantations as well as fairly new resorts such as Heritage Awali Golf & Spa Resort, Voile d’Or Resort & Spa, Le Telfair Golf & Spa Resort and Tamassa.
Le Morne Peninsula in the southwest is a favourite location of windsurfers, kite surfers and board surfers. Nearby resorts include Indian Resort, Berjaya Le Morne, Les Pavillons and Le Paradis Hotel & Golf Club.
Flic en Flac, on the western coast has beautiful beaches with safe shallow bathing. Among nearby properties are Le Tamarin, Taj Exotica Resort & Spa, Sofitel Imperial, Hilton Mauritius Resort & Spa, Sugar Beach Resort and La Pirogue.
