LE TOUESSROK MAURITIUS – A WORLD-CLASS ROMANTIC RETREAT!
LE TOUESSROK MAURITIUS
Le Touessrok is one of the world’s most famous and romantic resorts:
The epitome of luxury – situated on Mauritius’ east coast, straddling the mainland and the little island of Frangipani, Le Touessrok claims the status of one of the world’s most famous and romantic resorts, popular with honeymooners. With its spacious layout, contemporary chic design and Creole charm, a vibrant mood of sophistication and pampered living is created. Thatched roofs and white walls project a village-style look on an idyllic setting framed by stunning white-sand beaches. Complemented by the very highest levels of culinary excellence with the fusion of Creole and international styles and flavours, the resort proposes stunning dining venues to include Safran, headed by Chef and Patron Atul Kochhar from Benares London. A luxurious Givenchy Spa and a Bernhard Langer-designed championship golf course and academy are among the resort’s superb leisure and sporting amenities. A shuttle boat will take you to the golf course on nearby Ile aux Cerfs – or to the white-sand beaches of the resort’s own private island, Ilot Mangénie.
Sensuous and chic, it is the essence of cool, modern elegance basking in the cultural warmth of tropical Mauritius:
The Deluxe Rooms are newly refurbished with the latest in-room technology, contemporary furnishings, and expanded views of the Indian Ocean.
Junior Suites are modern, cool and contemporary with nuances of the tropics through decorative design features, including carved wooden screens and colourful Mauritian artwork adorning the walls. Huge bay windows and sweeping sea-views allow the changing light to brighten the rooms through the day towards the night, through every room, including the bathroom. Striking colours contrast with the subtle shades of the luxurious furniture and fittings. Soft Egyptian cottons, vivid cashmere throws, huge king or double queen-sized beds create a luxurious living space, all the while facing outwards over the crystal blue Indian Ocean.
Ocean Suites take the same cool and contemporary feel of the Junior Suites, replete with luxurious Egyptian cotton and cashmere throws and cushions to new levels. A separate roomy lounge, private dining room and two secluded terraces lead off the sumptuous master bedroom. Additional Junior/Ocean Suites are located on Frangipani Island.
The Royal Suite is a jewel. Now refurbished, the Royal Suite offers the highest level of service standards and exceptional privacy. The Royal Suite stands alone in exclusivity, being completely detached and replete with a huge master bedroom, dining room and outside terrace. Ideal for entertaining, the Royal Suite is equally good for a private romantic dinner.
Le Touessrok offers supreme three-bedroom luxury villas, totally discreet with private swimming pools, gardens and separate entrances, designed and finished in cool, contemporary interpretations of Mauritian style. The living areas are light and relaxed, with high, vaulted wooden ceilings, tall windows and terrace doors that lead out to the infinity pool and wonderful tropical vistas. Each villa has two master king bedrooms, with a third queen bedroom behind. Bathrooms have sculptural stone bathtubs and lead out to private walled gardens with outdoor waterfall showers and daybeds.
Restaurants & Bars:
Le Touessrok features a wonderful selection of culinary excellence with the fusion of Creole and international styles and flavours. There is a ‘gastronomic theatre’ serving nine different cuisines, classic tropical dining poolside, refined east-meets-west cuisine, and relaxed shoes-off eating on the resort islands. Light snacks and refreshing beverages are also served on the beach all day.
Three-Nine Eight – the name says at all: spread over three floors featuring the cuisine of nine countries in a ‘culinary theatre’ presented by eight show kitchens. This is the place for breakfasts, and sociable, entertaining evenings. The main dining room on three different levels presents Mauritian, Indian, Middle Eastern, Chinese, Thai, Japanese, Spanish, Italian and French cuisines with eight spectacular, open kitchens, where you can witness the chefs in action. Three-Nine-Eight includes a rotisserie and grill (inspired by Central European cuisine), a salad bar, Asian noodle and wok workshop, bakery and pastry shop, café bar, as well as a Mediterranean section with pasta and antipasti stall.
Barlen’s is the beach restaurant and bar on the shore of Trou d’Eau Douce Bay built from wood and thatch with an Asian-inspired interior, and presided over by the ever-smiling and welcoming figure of Barlen himself. The restaurant offers a range of dishes based on a fusion of Asian and European cuisine. Lunch and dinner revolve around a unique open kitchen featuring a glass-encased sushi counter, and a Japanese Robata grill alongside a European volcanic-rock grill. The light, refined contemporary cuisine combines the flavours of East and West.
The focal point of this enchanting restaurant is the open kitchen with tandoori ovens producing a variety of Indian bread, appetisers and main courses. The brilliant menu at Safran Restaurant, created and conceived by Chef Mallikarjuna Marchad, is a modern interpretation of classical Indian cuisine. Overlooking Hibiscus Bay, this elegant and contemporary restaurant serves highly sophisticated and timeless Indian recipes prepared with Continental methods.
The Sega Bar occupies the centre stage at the resort’s main pool, and is the ideal spot throughout the day for refreshing drinks, tropical cocktails and light snacks. The bar is well known for its exceptional selection of pure Malt Scotch Whiskies, as well as its impressive range of Single Barrel Bourbons. It also features Le Touessrok’s own home-made rums along with fine rums from around the world. In the evening, the rhythms of the resident jazz band will take you late into the night in a stylish atmosphere.
On the resort’s romantic desert island of Ilot Mangénie, fresh local food and drinks are served beachside under the trees. With a relaxed welcome from the manager ‘Friday’, Crusoe offers wonderful locally caught same-day fresh fish, a salad bar and pizzas. On Sunday, the restaurant presents a sumptuous Mauritian outdoor buffet of spit-roasted lamb and chicken, Asian stir-fries, lagoon seafood and a tempting dessert counter, all accompanied by free-flowing sparkling wine. Robinson’s Bar is the place to taste a selection of delicious home-made rum concoctions served by Mr. Robinson himself, friendly Governor of Ilot Mangénie.
During the day of water sports or relaxing on the beaches of Ile aux Cerfs, lunch is provided at the relaxed, barefoot restaurant Paul & Virginie. Named after the famous shipwrecked lovers Paul & Virginie of the 18th-century, the restaurant serves perfect beachside daytime fare of lightly grilled, fried or steamed local fish, seafood, pizzas and simple Mauritian dishes such as palm-heart salad. In the evening this is perfect for a private or themed reception. The restaurant has its own dance floor, and the sandbank provides the ideal backdrop to entertainment and firework displays. Near to the Paul & Virginie Restaurant, Sands Bar serves a selection of drinks, light lunch dishes and snacks.
The Givenchy Spa:
The Givenchy Spa, one of a select few around the world, reflects Givenchy’s famously elegant and understated style. The experience is unique – an exclusive opportunity to unwind and discover physical and mental harmony. Treatment rituals are blissfully effective and pleasurable with techniques created by Givenchy.
The Golf Course:
Le Touessrok Golf Course is across the water from the resort mainland on its own beautiful island, Ile aux Cerfs – ‘Island of Deer’. The deer have gone, and what has been created here has been described as the ‘wonder of the game’.
Bernhard Langer designed the 18-hole, par 72 championship course to challenge advanced players, while remaining exciting and playable for recreational golfers. This is achieved with four sets of tee decks for each hole, so the angles of attack and approach vary. There is a generous provision of fairway where appropriate. The greens are mainly small and undulating, requiring precise approach shots.
