Which destination to choose?
Mauritius: Here most hotels have complimentary mini-clubs for youngsters aged 4 years and upwards – with pools and organised activities under professional supervision. Special menu options are normally provided, entertainment (even into the evening during parents’ dinner). Babysitting is normally available at all hotels (there is a small charge for this service). Heritage provides a free crèche for under-4s.

Seychelles: Here the facilities are a little more limited, though the idyllic setting compensates! Parents seeking family-friendly settings will find an ideal formula at Sainte Anne Resort or Four Seasons Seychelles on Mahé, on Praslin at Paradise Sun on lovely Cote d’Or – while Coco de Mer is another attractive favourite. Other small islands include Desroches Island Resort and Labriz Silhouette.
Maldives: These generally rather quiet islands do have some locations that cater for children and make good family choices. Among these are Kanuhura, One&Only Reethi Raj. Island Hideaway at Dhonakulhi, Shangri-La’s Villingili Resort & Spa, Diva Resort & Spa and Four Seasons Resort at Kuda Huraa.
Dubai: An ideal family resort with its wide beach, the spectacular Wild Wadi Water Park and mini-clubs at main hotels. Most hotels offer free accommodation for one child under 12 sharing with parents, charging only for meals. Some hotels offer free accommodation for two children under 12 sharing their parents’ room. The magnificent Atlantis, The Palm features Aquaventure, a playground of water thrills and swimming pools, extensive river ride action with cascades, tidal waves and rapids. The marvellous Dolphin Bay allows guests to interact with the animals and learn and take part in the dolphin encounter programme.
